Blue Ray Media Player

Blue Ray Media Player

Bluray media disk format is the next generation and advanced form of the disk recording technology. Bluray high capacity storage media has been intelligently engineered for high definition video. Bluray disk association engineered this new high capacity disk format that delivers exceptional high quality resolution. Blu-ray disk technology is the foremost choice of the customers and is supported by the major movie studios, music companies, media manufacturers, consumer electronic companies and PC manufacturers around the globe. Most of these companies have intentions to develop Blu-ray media products in near future.

The name of Blu-ray came form the blue laser that is used in this new advanced media format. As you know that red laser is used in DVD format whose wavelength is much longer than the blue laser. Blu-ray disk format is more reliable and produces better quality of video/audio than the DVD technology. As the wavelength of the laser increases, the beam spot which contacts the media disk will also get wider. The wavelength of the laser used in DVD has greater wavelength, therefore it beam spot will also be wider. On the other hand, the shorter wavelength of Blu-ray’s blue laser decreases the width of the beam spot. This reduced beam spot width in Bluray media disk technology enables it to store more data amounts on the disk that the DVD. Although the disk size of Bluray and DVD are same, but the Blu-ray disk will hold more data (almost 25GB on single side) due to its smaller beam spot. Not only the Bluray disc holds more data, but its quality and solution are far superior to the DVD media format.

Shorter wavelength of Bluray ensures precise and efficient reading/writing of data. Blu-ray media disks are offered in two different recording capacitates. A single side can pack 25 GB information. The single sided disks will hold 25 GB while the dual-layer discs offer 50 GB recording capability. 25 GB means that the Bluray media disc can accommodate 5 times more amount of data than 4.7 GB of a conventional DVD disk. When recording capacity of single sided DVD is compared with the dual layer Bluray, the Bluray disk offers almost 10 times more recording capacity. Dual layered DVD will hold 8.56GB which is almost 5 times lesser than dual layer Bluray disk.

The transfer speed of Blu-ray media technology is must faster than conventional DVD. Bluray disk technology offers almost 300% faster transfer speeds. In Blu-ray disk technology, 1x transfer speed is 36 Mb/s while on the other hand 1x in DVD technology is 11.08 MB/sec. The DVD media players allot .28 MB/s for audio playback and 9.8 MB/s for video playback which makes a total of 10.08 Mbps. This is a limiting factor of the DVD disk format as the combined bit-rates of video and audio do not exceed 10.08 MB/s. The 50GB Bluray disc can record standard definition video of 23 hours and HD video of about 9 hours. Highly efficient Blu-ray disk technology supports multi-layers therefore its recording capacity can be extended. In future the Blu-ray disks will have capacities ranging from 100GB to 200GB, as more layers will be added to the Bluray media disks.
